Visitor Information Counsellors – Summer Students

The Williams Lake & District Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications from students to join our team for the summer. The ideal candidate has excellent customer service skills as they will be acting as a liaison between visitors to Williams Lake and our tourism industry.

The main duties of a Visitor Information Counsellor include (but are not limited to); greeting visitors in a professional and welcoming manner, providing information about tourism products and services, and showing visitors how beautiful Williams Lake is.

Job Description

Greeting all visitors to the Williams Lake & District Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Discovery Centre in a friendly, positive and professional manner.
Help visitors by being a resource to meet their needs, by providing accurate information regarding local destinations, accommodations, suggest suitable products in the community,
Promote local tourism products, services and local events.
Keep detailed records on statistical information related to each visitor.
Stock and sell retail, coffee merchandise and handle cash transactions.
Maintain brochure racks and ensure adequate inventory is always on hand.
Participate in tourism related activities & events and other assigned duties

Job Requirements

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google Suite
Working knowledge in Social Media platforms.
Knowledge of Williams Lake and the surrounding area an asset.
Must be able to work flexible hours as we are open seven (7) days a week.
Having a “can-do” attitude, a sense of humour and a high level of enthusiasm.
Enrolled full time in school and intending to return full time in September.

Wage

$16.50-18.00/hr
